The best way to continue to provide improved health for children and adults, assure safeguards against disease, make our lives more comfortable and yield the most bountiful food supply the world has ever known, is through public education about pest management. Washington Friends of Farms & Forests reaches out by attending trade shows, producing brochures on pest management, and accepting invitations to speak about the contributions pesticides have made to our society.

Brochures: For information on ordering brochures, contact Washington Friends of Farms & Forests at bsrobertson@qwest.net

Farming, it's good for you! Washington Farmers produce over 230 different crops. This not only puts food on our tables at a reasonable cost, it provides jobs for more people than any other industry in Washington State. This brochure explains the care Washington's farmers take in producing the foods that we consume.

Managing Washington's Working Forests. Washington State has 23 million acres of the most productive forestland in the country. Of these, 16.2 million acres are classified as commercial, or "working" forests that produce millions of dollars of wood and paper products, horticultural and nursery products and floricultural products. This brochure provides a glimpse into how foresters manage their lands for commercial products, wildlife habitat, and recreation, including places to hunt, hike, bike, fish and camp.

Keeping Pest Control Products out of Creeks, Rivers, and the Ocean. Learn how to develop an integrated pest management (IPM) plan for your home and protect our waterways at the same time. This brochure helps you manage your property to prevent many common pests and give you the responsible steps to take when using pest control products.

Backyard Benefits. Healthy yards add quality to our lives. They provide other benefits as well. This brochure provides tips on maintaining a healthy outside environment.

Trade shows and fairs:

In 2006 Washington Friends of Farms & Forests display booth visited thirteen different locations throughout the state.

Washington State Commission on Pesticide Registration:

Washington Friends of Farms & Forests supports the Washington State Commission on Pesticide Registration, and assists with the annual tour for research and development specialists. The Commission funds research for the registration of pesticides for minor crops, minor uses, and emergency use.
